About
Kiddles Sports has been a Market Square tenant for most of the square’s existence. Three Kiddle brothers opened the store as a hardware shop in the late 1920s, and Ron Shlifka bought the business in 1968 and steered the stock toward Schwinn bicycles and then sporting goods. Today the third generation of the Shlifka family, Jay, Lee and Aric, runs the shop, selling bikes, athletic shoes, balls, bats, gloves and fitness gear. Kiddles also outfits North Shore teams with uniforms and spirit wear for Lake Forest High School, Lake Forest College and other area schools. Free lots and street parking surround the square.
