Mile Long Records began as a record label and recording studio in 2005 and turned into a vinyl record store in October 2014. Owner Michael Paeth ran the shop on West Front Street for a decade, then moved to roughly 2,000 square feet at 128 West Liberty Drive in the fall of 2024, a space that had been an Illinois Secretary of State vehicle services office and still has creaky floors. The Daily Herald reported about 400 transactions on Record Store Day in April 2024. The store stocks new and used records, opens early for Record Store Day, and hosts live music in the new space.
