Garibaldi’s was founded in 1976 by Gary L. Mednicov, who wanted to bring an East Coast-style restaurant with New York-style pizza to the Chicago area. Fifty years later the business has two locations, in Arlington Heights and on West Higgins Road in Hoffman Estates, and the company’s history page quotes the founder’s rule that the purpose is quality food and good service in clean surroundings at reasonable prices. The Hoffman Estates dining room serves New York-style pizza by the slice and the pie, Italian sandwiches, salads and pasta, and the restaurant does catering, school fundraisers and party hosting.
