Dunning’s Market

Dunning’s Market at 1050 Sterling Avenue has anchored downtown Flossmoor under the same owner since 1997. Maureen, one of eleven kids in an Italian-Irish family, bought what was then a meat market and gourmet shop and turned the store into a deli and cafe where people linger over coffee and cinnamon rolls. Sandwiches are built to order, soups are made in house, and the chicken salad and chicken Dijon are the specialties regulars recommend. The Supper Club sells prepared dinners by weekly order, meat and fish are hand cut, and the shelves stock the spices and baking odds and ends a home cook cannot find at the chains.
