The University of Chicago Laboratory Schools, known as Lab, is a coed independent school operated by the University of Chicago at 1362 E. 59th St. in Hyde Park. Classes run from a half-day nursery program through University High School. Lab says 70% of students get some discount through need-based financial aid, tuition remission for university employees, or both, and that the school awarded more than $7 million in aid this year with no loans. Twenty seniors were named National Merit Semifinalists in September 2026. Tuition for 2026-27 runs from $44,748 to $49,050 for full-day grades.
