Old St. Patrick’s Church
About
Old St. Patrick’s Church is a Catholic parish at 700 W. Adams St., founded by Irish immigrants in 1846. The church, designed by Augustus Bauer and Asher Carter, was dedicated on Christmas Day 1856 and survived the Great Chicago Fire. Thomas O’Shaughnessy designed and installed its 15 stained-glass windows, inspired by the Book of Kells, between 1912 and 1922. The parish counts more than 3,000 member households and runs social action, immigrant and refugee, LGBTQ+ and interfaith ministries alongside a full Mass schedule.
