The Joffrey Ballet is Chicago’s big professional ballet company, based on Randolph Street in the Loop. Its holiday show is Christopher Wheeldon’s The Nutcracker, which moves the story to the 1893 World’s Fair: Marie and the Nutcracker prince wander past the Golden Statue, Venetian masked dancers, Chinese dragons and Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show. The 2026 run is December 4 through 27 at the opera house at 20 N Wacker Drive, and the show runs about two hours.
