Greek Islands

Greek Islands was opened in 1971 by a group of friends, and the restaurant has been on South Halsted Street in Greektown since. The menu sticks to Greek cooking: lamb braised in tomato sauce with spinach or hilopites pasta, stuffed tomatoes and peppers, oven-roasted suckling pig and seafood. The restaurant imports its own extra virgin olive oil, wine, cheeses, olives and herbs from Greece. Greek Islands is a block north of where the Chicago Marathon course turns onto Halsted near mile 17, and the UIC-Halsted Blue Line stop is close.
