Hyde Park Art Center

Hyde Park Art Center is a nonprofit art center at 5020 S Cornell Ave in Hyde Park that has supported visual artists in Chicago since 1939. The galleries are free and open to the public. The education program covers ceramics, including throwing and handbuilding, plus painting, drawing and digital art for adults, with separate programs for teens and people 65 and older. Creativity Camp is for kids ages 7 to 11. The center also runs free community programming through its Open Arts initiative. Class registration is handled on a separate registration site.

• Admission to the galleries is free.
• The Metra Electric’s 51st/53rd stop is next to the building, and the No. 6 and No. 28 buses stop on 51st Street.
• The small parking lot is first-come; paid cash-only parking is at Harper Court, 53rd Street and Lake Park Avenue.
• Creativity Camp is for kids ages 7 to 11, or second through fifth grade.
