Green City Market Lincoln Park

Green City Market is the city’s best-known farmers market, and October is peak season for it. According to the organizer, the Lincoln Park market runs Wednesdays and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1817 N. Clark St., on the lawn at the south end of Lincoln Park across from the Chicago History Museum, and the 2026 outdoor season ends November 21. A Saturday sister market runs 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 900 W. Monroe St. in the West Loop on the same schedule.

Vendors are producers only: farms, orchards, dairies, bakers and a few prepared-food stands, all vetted for sustainable practices, per the organizer. In October that means apples and pears, winter squash, late tomatoes, storage onions, mushrooms, honey, eggs, pasture-raised meat and cider. Chef demonstrations and kids’ programs run on Saturdays. The market accepts Link cards and matches Link purchases through its Link Match program.

There is no admission charge. The organizer says an indoor winter market at Avondale is coming after the outdoor season closes; details had not been posted as of late September.

The No. 22 Clark and No. 36 Broadway buses stop at Clark and LaSalle, right at the market. The Brown and Purple Line Sedgwick stop is a 10-minute walk east on North Avenue. Parking is the hard part: the Chicago History Museum lot on Stockton Drive charges by the hour and fills by 9 a.m. on Saturdays, and Lincoln Park streets are largely permit-only. Come before 9 a.m. for the full selection and an easy walk between stalls; by 11 a.m. on a nice October Saturday the aisles are packed and the apple cider donuts have a line. Bring your own bags, cash for the smaller stands, and a cooler in the car if you are buying meat.
