Field Museum

The Field Museum is the natural history museum at 1400 S DuSable Lake Shore Dr, at the north end of the Museum Campus in the South Loop, next to Soldier Field. The galleries hold Sue the T. rex, ancient Egypt, gems and the museum’s cultural collections, and the museum runs ticketed special exhibitions and 3D films that cost extra beyond general admission. The Roosevelt stop on the Red, Orange and Green lines is a 15-minute walk west.

What to know

• Basic admission starts at $30 for out-of-town visitors and $21 for Chicago residents, with $3 off for seniors and students and free entry under age 3.
• Illinois residents get free general admission every Wednesday with proof of residency; reserving those tickets online is recommended.
• The exhibition After the Age of Dinosaurs runs through January 3, 2027, and the Pokémon Fossil Museum runs through April 11, 2027.
• The 146 bus from State and Roosevelt stops at the door, and Metra Electric riders get off at Museum Campus/11th Street.
