Lao Peng You is a small BYOB noodle and dumpling restaurant at 2020 W Chicago Ave in Ukrainian Village that opened in 2019. The name translates to old friend. The kitchen hand-cuts wide noodles for a spicy beef soup and for cold sesame noodles with chili oil and peanuts, boils dumplings in a sour, spicy broth with fillings like pork and dill or beef and cilantro, and griddles green onion bread and cumin lamb bing. The room is loud and close, and the Chicago Avenue bus stops at the door.
