About
Soul & Smoke is a barbecue and soul food restaurant at 1601 Payne St. in Evanston’s 5th Ward, the flagship of a small Chicago-area group. Chefs D’Andre Carter and Heather Bublick started the business as a catering company before the pandemic, then opened the Evanston restaurant with indoor and patio seating. The menu centers on meats smoked fresh each day, including prime brisket and pulled pork, with sides such as mac and cheese, collard greens and cornbread muffins.
