Kyoten Next Door is chef Otto Phan’s ten-seat nigiri counter at 2513 W. Armitage Ave. in Logan Square, opened beside his original Kyoten omakase room and about a ten-minute walk from the California Blue Line stop. The format is nigiri and only nigiri: about 15 pieces of fish flown in twice a week from Japan, pressed onto rice portions bigger than most counters serve, closing with a tuna handroll and a slab of sweet tamago. The Michelin Guide lists the room as a recommended restaurant.
What to know
- The Infatuation’s Chicago sushi guide, updated August 2026, rates the counter 9.5 out of 10 and calls the meal the best omakase in the city.
- Time Out put the price at $159 to $169 per person in October 2025, roughly a third of the original Kyoten’s.
- Reservations go through Resy and have opened about 20 days out.
- A solo diner has better odds of a seat than a group.
