La Chaparrita is a taqueria inside a corner grocery at 2500 S. Whipple St., at 25th and Whipple in Little Village. The taco counter sits at the front of the store, and the specialty is tacos de fritangas, the Mexico City style in which meats fry on a wide flat charola and the tortilla is dipped in the simmering broth before hitting the griddle. The board runs to crispy tripa, suadero, longaniza, sweetbreads, cabeza, brain and carne asada, at prices near the low end of the city.

- Time Out singled out the crispy tripa taco as far back as 2014.
- The Infatuation gave the counter an 8.3 rating in 2022 and kept the taqueria on its 2026 best-tacos list.
- Seating is a few stools, so most orders go out the door; Piotrowski Park is a few blocks east.
- Street parking is usually easy on the residential block, and the 60 Blue Island and 94 California buses stop nearby.
- The lengua taco was $3.75 in October 2025, per Time Out.
