Cafecito

Cafecito is a Cuban coffee house and sandwich counter at 26 E Congress Pkwy, the street now signed as Ida B. Wells Drive, a block from the Harold Washington Library L stop and two blocks from Grant Park. The cafe presses Cuban sandwiches to order, the Cubano first among them, and sells chimichurri and tilapia sandwiches, platters with rice, beans and plantains, black bean soup, plantain chips with jalapeño hummus and cafe con leche. Counter service handles takeout, and a small dining room seats the rest.

What to know

• The company runs four other Chicago cafes, in the Loop at 7 N Wells St, Lincoln Park, the Gold Coast and North Center, plus two in California.
• Time Out priced the Cubano at $14.95 in October 2025.
• Breakfast sandwiches come with eggs and a choice of bacon, chorizo or palomilla steak.
• Delivery is available through a partnered delivery service.
