Nick Pianetto Sr. opened the first Pat’s at 3114 N Sheffield Ave in 1950, and the Pianetto family still runs the restaurant, per the about page. The pizza is thin-crust tavern style cut in squares, served in a dining room with a separate takeout and delivery operation.
