About
Chicago Botanic Garden is a 385-acre living plant museum on Lake Cook Road in Glencoe, at the north end of the Forest Preserves of Cook County’s North Branch Trail. The grounds hold more than two dozen display gardens and natural areas spread across islands and lakes, and the calendar runs to classes and exhibitions in every season. The garden is about eight-tenths of a mile from Metra’s Braeside stop, which makes a car-free visit realistic.
What to know
- Admission is ticketed, and parking is charged separately from the entry fee.
- Members and Illinois LINK and WIC cardholders get in free.
- Bike racks near the lots serve cyclists riding up the trail from the city.
- A garden shop and the Garden View Café are on the grounds.
- Metra riders get off at Braeside, under a mile’s walk away.
