About
The Chicago History Museum is a city history museum at Clark Street and North Avenue in Lincoln Park, at the south end of the park itself. Galleries cover the Great Fire, the 1893 fair, the L and the neighborhoods, and the Abakanowicz Research Center is free for genealogy and local history work. Chicago residents pay a reduced rate, Illinois residents 18 and under get in free, and the museum posts Illinois free days through the year.
What to know
- Adult admission is $19 for Chicago residents and $24 for non-residents.
- Free dates for Illinois residents in fall 2026 include October 8 and 12 and November 11 and 19.
- Validated parking is $10 at the lot one block north at 1730 N. Stockton Dr.
- The Sedgwick Brown Line and Clark/Division Red Line stations are about half a mile away, and the 22, 36 and 72 buses stop nearby.
