Driehaus Museum
About
The Driehaus Museum is a house museum in the restored Samuel M. Nickerson mansion on Erie Street in River North, two blocks west of Michigan Avenue. The 1883 house keeps its marble, onyx and carved wood intact, and the museum shows Gilded Age interiors and decorative arts alongside rotating exhibitions upstairs. Docent tours run daily on a first-come basis, and a free Bloomberg Connects app covers the rooms for anyone who wants to walk through on their own.
What to know
- Adults pay $23, seniors $18, students $13, and children 12 and under are free.
- Wednesday evenings from 4 to 7 p.m. are pay what you wish.
- Public tours cost $7 on top of admission and leave at 11:30, 1:30 and 3:30.
- The Grand Red Line stop is a two-block walk.
