Holiday Magic at Brookfield Zoo Chicago

Brookfield Zoo Chicago’s Holiday Magic runs 3 to 9 p.m. on select nights: November 21 through 25 and 27 through 29; December 3 through 6, 10 through 13, 17 through 23 and 26 through 31; and January 1 through 3, 2027, according to the zoo. The zoo says the display has 3.5 million lights, including walk-through tunnels, an illuminated maze, animal-themed light sculptures and interactive displays.

Beyond the lights there are carousel rides, fire pits for s’mores, seasonal food and drinks, holiday shopping, and paid add-ons such as penguin encounters and heated igloo rentals that start at $499. A sensory-friendly evening with dimmed lights and reduced effects is set for December 3.

Tickets start at $29.95 and are free with membership. Main and North Gate parking is included with admission; South Gate parking requires an advance reservation and a separate fee, per the zoo.

Plan your visit

Metra’s BNSF line stops at Hollywood (Zoo Stop) a few blocks from the South Gate, and Pace buses 304 and 331 serve the zoo; most families drive via First Avenue and 31st Street. The zoo’s daytime parking is $17 at the North Gate and $20 at the South Gate, but Holiday Magic includes North Gate parking. Weekend nights before Christmas and the week after are the busiest; early December weeknights are quieter. Wear boots, bring gloves and plan on two to three hours outdoors.
