Geneva Christmas Walk

The Geneva Christmas Walk is the Fox Valley’s oldest-style downtown holiday night: shops stay open, carolers stroll Third Street, and the crowd gathers on the Kane County Courthouse lawn for the lighting of the Great Tree. The 2026 walk is Friday, December 4, beginning at 6 p.m., according to the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, which produces it. Santa Lucia lights the tree and Santa arrives between 6 and 6:30 p.m.

Expect roasted chestnuts, a live nativity, horse-drawn carriage rides and merchant specials along Third Street and State Street. The walk is free; carriage rides and food are paid. The chamber’s Holiday House Tour, a ticketed tour of decorated homes, runs the same weekend and is listed separately on the chamber’s site.

Little Red Barn Door is the presenting sponsor this year, per the chamber.

Plan your visit

Metra’s Union Pacific West line stops at Geneva, a few blocks from Third Street, and Friday evening inbound trains run late, which makes this an easy car-free trip. Drivers can use the free city lots off State Street and the Metra lot after 6 p.m.; Third Street closes to traffic. The courthouse lawn fills by 5:45 p.m. for the lighting. Bundle up and bring cash for the chestnuts.
