Banging Gavel Brews

Banging Gavel Brews is a brewpub, beer garden and live music venue in the Vogt House, a restored 19th-century landmark at 17400 Oak Park Avenue in downtown Tinley Park. The company was started by a lawyer, Jim Richert, two accountants, Kyle O’Connor and Ed Richert, and a graphic designer, Beckie O’Connor, which explains the courtroom name. The taps rotate through lagers, red ales, saisons, porters, kolsch, bock and marzen, and the kitchen turns out seasonal shareable plates and full entrees. The restoration won a 2025 Landmarks Illinois Driehaus Preservation Award for adaptive reuse.
