Bistro Campagne

Bistro Campagne is a French bistro at 4518 N. Lincoln Ave. in Lincoln Square. Chef Michael Altenberg, an early figure in Chicago’s farm-to-table and organic cooking, opened the restaurant in 2002, and his team and family have kept it going since his death in 2012. Executive chef Adam Grandt runs the kitchen. The dinner menu covers French onion soup, escargot, mussels in white wine, roast chicken and steak frites, and the bar leans on small-batch spirits, Trappist beers and organic and biodynamic wines. The restaurant was a stop on Lincoln Square’s 2026 Spring Wine Stroll.
