About
Buffo’s has been on Sheridan Road since 1977, when Leonard Innocenzi started selling hot dogs from a storefront his grandparents had run as a grocery. The place grew into a full pizzeria and family restaurant, and the double-decker pizza, two crusts with the fillings stacked between, is the reason people drive in from around the region; WGN’s Chicago’s Best filmed it in 2017. Thin-crust pizza, charbroiled burgers, Italian beef and sausage, and pastas with house-made sauces round out the menu, and the City of Highwood issued a mayoral proclamation for the restaurant’s 40th anniversary. Buffo’s took part in the first Eat. Drink. Highwood. restaurant week in February 2026.
