Charnley-Persky House
About
Charnley-Persky House is an 1892 house museum at 1365 N. Astor St. in the Gold Coast, a block west of Lake Shore Drive between Schiller and Goethe streets. Louis Sullivan designed the residence for lumberman James Charnley, with a young Frank Lloyd Wright drafting in his office, and architectural historians often call the building an early step toward modern residential design. The Society of Architectural Historians owns the house, uses the upper floors as headquarters and runs docent-led tours of all three floors.

- Guided tours last about 60 minutes and run on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

- The Clark/Division Red Line stop is about a ten-minute walk, and Astor Street parking is by permit.
