Chicago Bath House is a traditional Russian-style bathhouse at 1914 W Division St in Wicker Park, operating at the address since 1906. Formerly the Division Street Russian Baths and later Red Square, the bathhouse was renovated after a 2011 ownership change and now pairs saunas and a cold pool with a full bar, a restaurant, tanning and salon services.
What to know
- Day admission includes a robe, towels and slippers, with no re-entry.
- Platza treatments use bundled oak, birch or eucalyptus branches soaked in hot water.
- Sauna use is walk-in, though massages and other services are best booked ahead on busy weekends.
- Saul Bellow wrote the baths into his novel Humboldt’s Gift.
- Swimsuits are required in the co-ed facility.
