Chicago Water Taxi

About

Chicago Water Taxi is the commuter arm of Wendella, running since 1962. The main branch route links three docks: Michigan Avenue at 400 N Michigan Ave, the Ogilvie/Union dock at the northwest corner of the Madison Street bridge, and Chinatown at Ping Tom Memorial Park. A full run takes about 45 minutes. The service is transportation rather than a tour, with no narration, but the ride passes the downtown skyline and the South Branch. Boats run rain or shine and have restrooms, drinks for sale and room for strollers and luggage.

What to know

  • One-way tickets are $10; children 3 and under ride free.
