Chief O’Neill’s Pub

Chief O’Neill’s Pub at 3471 N. Elston Ave. in Avondale takes its name from Francis O’Neill, Chicago’s general superintendent of police at the turn of the 20th century, who collected thousands of Irish tunes and published O’Neill’s Music of Ireland in 1903. Musicians Brendan and Siobhan McKinney started the pub in 1999. The kitchen serves fish and chips, shepherd’s pie, salmon and mussels, and the pub has a garden, Sunday brunch and event rooms for 25 to 300 guests.
