About
William and Joan Baffes opened County Fair Foods in 1964, and their son Tom Baffes now runs the grocery at 10800 S. Western Ave. in Morgan Park. About 30 years ago the family started selling whole corned beef briskets pulled straight from the barrel, and the store sells close to 20,000 pounds of corned beef in the run-up to St. Patrick’s Day, according to Block Club Chicago. The store sits just off the South Side Irish Parade route and closes on parade day.
