El Che Steakhouse & Bar is chef John Manion’s live-fire restaurant at 845 W Washington Blvd in the West Loop, built around a large open wood grill in the Argentine asado style. The menu draws on Manion’s childhood in South America: a 32-ounce bone-in ribeye, morcilla, oysters and vegetables all cooked over embers, with a wine list made up entirely of South American bottles. Doors open at 5 p.m. daily and happy hour runs 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday through Friday. The Morgan Green and Pink Line stop is a short walk and the Clinton Green and Pink Line stop is about four blocks east.
