Fred’s Garage

Fred’s Garage took over Fred Majewski’s old Mobil station at Green Bay Road and Spruce Street in September 2017, and the concrete floors, two working garage doors and car-bench seating still say service station. Robert LaPata, Joe Krouse and Fred Gale, the partners behind Ten Mile House and DB3 Donuts in Evanston, run the place with a menu of American classics: wings by the ten, twenty or fifty, a Reuben, a Chicago cheese steak that made WGN’s Lunchbreak, and dinner plates like chicken parmesan. The patio has lounge seating and a game area, and a chili cook-off runs each fall. No reservations; tables go in order of arrival.
