Hewn is an independent, women-owned bakery on Central Street in Evanston, near the Central Street Metra station and a walk from Northwestern’s lakefront athletic fields. The bakehouse makes naturally leavened breads from organic, stone-milled grains sourced from local farmers, with a country loaf and a blonde country loaf baked daily and rotating specialty loaves like Turkey Red and cranberry walnut. Croissants, brioche pastries, morning buns, cookies and sandwiches on house-made bread fill out the case.
