The Fruit Store

The Fruit Store has been the produce market of downtown Hinsdale for more than 30 years, at 26 W 1st St a few steps from the Metra platform, with a sister store at 925 Burlington Ave in Western Springs. Owners Mick Yurchak, Al Enzibiglis and Bob Yurchak hand-pick the fruit and vegetables and stock a short list of groceries around them: dips, juices, milk, chips, nuts and candy. The counter makes fresh smoothies, house salsa, guacamole and a Santa Fe dip, keeps a salad bar cut daily and dips caramel apples. Gift baskets of whole fruit and hand-cut fruit and vegetable platters are made to order for parties and holidays.
