Kai Zan is a small sushi restaurant at 2557 W. Chicago Ave. in Humboldt Park, just west of Western Avenue on the 66 Chicago bus line. Twin brothers Melvin and Carlo Vizconde run the room as the city’s most approachable omakase counter. Beyond the chef’s-choice meal, regulars order a la carte signatures by name: Orange Rush and Angry Crab nigiri bites, escolar or maguro pearls, a tuna flight of otoro, chutoro and lean tuna, and charbroiled skewers. Time Out and other local outlets cite Kai Zan as the most affordable omakase in Chicago.

- The 2026 menu prices the chef’s-choice omakase from $98.
- Time Out reported an early-bird omakase at $49 per person Tuesday through Thursday from 5 to 5:30 p.m. as of October 2025.
- Two-piece nigiri bites were $14 and the tuna flight $27 on the 2026 menu.
- Reservations are recommended because the dining room is small.
- Street parking along this stretch of Chicago Avenue is easier than downtown.
