About
KAM Isaiah Israel is a Reform congregation in Hyde Park-Kenwood, formed in 1971 when KAM, founded in 1847, merged with Temple Isaiah Israel. The congregation calls KAM the oldest synagogue in Illinois. Its home is a historic sanctuary designed by Alfred Alschuler, which reopened at a rededication ceremony on December 14, 2025, after years of restoration. KAMII holds Friday evening and Saturday morning Shabbat services, Torah study, a religious school, youth programs and a food justice initiative, and welcomes interfaith families and LGBTQ+ members.
