The McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum occupies the southwest bridge tower of the Michigan Avenue (DuSable) bridge, with its entrance on the Riverwalk level. The museum is run by Friends of the Chicago River and is in its 20th season in 2026. The route begins at river level, where visitors see the machinery that lifts one of the city’s best-known movable bridges, then spirals up five stories of exhibits about the Chicago River’s history and cleanup, finishing with views of the river and skyline from the top of the tower.

- Self-guided admission is pay what you can, with a suggested donation of $5 to $10.
- Guided tours cost $15 per person and run June through October.
- Spanish-language guided tours are held on Saturdays from July to October.
