Muslim Community Center
About
The Muslim Community Center was formed in February 1969 by 15 Muslims who met after midday prayer at a Bosnian community hall on Halsted Street, and incorporated that September. MCC now runs two mosques, on North Elston Avenue in Chicago and on Menard Avenue in Morton Grove, plus the full-time MCC Academy in Skokie and Morton Grove. The organization reports more than 1,600 paid members and Friday attendance above 3,000 at its two mosques. Its board is elected by members, and an Interfaith and Outreach Committee runs events and visits.
