About
Open Books is a nonprofit used bookstore whose West Loop store at 651 W. Lake St. sits a block from the Clinton Green and Pink line stop and a short walk from Ogilvie Transportation Center. The organization collects donated books, sells them at low prices and uses the money to fund reading and writing programs for Chicago students. A second store is at 905 W. 19th St. in Pilsen, and a North Lawndale location at 3812 W. 16th St. gives away books and runs drop-in programming. The Logan Square store closed to the public on March 1, 2026.
