About
PAWS Chicago is a no-kill animal welfare group whose Pippen Fasseas Adoption Center sits at 1997 N. Clybourn Ave. in Lincoln Park. Its Nan & Wayne Kocourek Medical Center and Lurie Clinic, at 3516 W. 26th St. in Little Village, handle intake, medical care and spay and neuter surgery. Volunteers at the adoption center play with, socialize and train adoptable pets, while medical center volunteers care for new arrivals, puppies, kittens and surgery patients. The group also runs a training center on N. Marcey Street and an outreach program for pet owners in Englewood and Back of the Yards.
What to know
- New volunteers must complete an orientation, offered online nine times a month or in person at the Medical Center.
- Applications are submitted online before orientation.
- Teens 12 to 17 can volunteer with a parent or guardian through the Junior Volunteers program.
- Off-site roles include events and community outreach, and some remote opportunities exist.
