TacoRio Urban Cantina

TacoRio Urban Cantina is a large open-air patio at the east end of the Riverwalk, close to where the river meets Lake Shore Drive and next to the Urban Kayaks launch, whose team runs the cantina. The kitchen makes carne asada tacos, quesabirria, guacamole and nachos with chips made in house, and the bar mixes margaritas with fresh-squeezed lime, strawberry margaritas and frozen drinks. The patio holds about 500 people with open seating, and the cantina schedules DJs and cover bands on weekends into the fall.

What to know

• Seating is open; the cantina does not take reservations for the patio.
• For rideshare drop-off, the cantina suggests using 400 E South Water St, a two-minute walk away.
