The Barn Steakhouse

The Barn Steakhouse is a steakhouse in downtown Evanston, reached through the alley behind 1016 Church St. Owner Amy Morton opened the restaurant as a tribute to her father, restaurateur Arnie Morton. The dining room fills an 1883 brick stable that once housed horses for horse-and-buggy milk delivery, with 20-foot ceilings and a large chandelier. The menu is built on Heritage Angus beef, with dry-aged strips and ribeyes, seafood and classic sides.

• The Grand Central Caviar Sandwich, cut in four and served tea-service style, is a signature starter.
