The Evans at Canal Shores
About
The Evans at Canal Shores is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit golf course in Evanston that takes no public money and runs on golf revenue, donations and volunteers. The short 18-hole layout, 3,600 yards and par 60, threads through an old oak forest beside the North Shore Channel, alongside L and Metra tracks and across several road crossings. The course was renamed for Chick Evans, the Evanston amateur champion behind the Evans Scholars Foundation, and it now serves as a youth caddie training site with the Western Golf Association and First Tee Greater Chicago.
