The Whitehall Hotel opened in 1928, around the time North Michigan Avenue was becoming the Magnificent Mile, and still runs as a small boutique hotel on Delaware Place a few steps east of the avenue. The hotel lists past guests including Katharine Hepburn, Paul Newman and the Beatles. Rooms are set up for longer stays, with mini refrigerators, laptop-size safes, kettles with coffee and tea, and full-size ironing boards, and microwaves can be requested ahead of arrival. An Asian restaurant, a bar and the Whitehall Lounge are on site, along with a renovated 24-hour fitness room and meeting space.
