Unabridged Bookstore

Unabridged Bookstore at 3251 N. Broadway in Lakeview is the neighborhood’s independent bookstore, a ten-minute walk east of the Belmont Red, Brown and Purple line stop. The store sells new books and is known for the handwritten staff recommendation cards that cover the shelves, along with a large LGBTQ+ section that reflects the store’s Boystown roots. Book clubs meet in the store most weeks at 7:30 p.m., with separate groups for queer fiction, horror, speculative fiction and general fiction. Parking on Broadway is metered and side streets are largely permit-only.
