Wonder Works Children’s Museum

Wonder Works Children’s Museum has been on North Avenue in Oak Park since 1991, a small nonprofit museum at 6445 W. North Avenue that is the near-west suburbs’ answer to the big downtown children’s museum. The scale is the point: a couple of floors of play-based exhibits that a preschooler can cover in a morning without the crowds or the parking bill of Navy Pier. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are reserved for field trips, so public days are Monday and Thursday through Sunday. The museum closes each fall for a refresh and reopens on October 5, 2026. The 72 North Avenue bus runs past the door.
