Berenjak brings London’s Persian kababs to Soho House Chicago in the West Loop
Berenjak, the Persian kabab restaurant that started in London’s Soho, was scheduled to open a Chicago location on October 2, 2026, inside Soho House Chicago at 113-125 N Green St in the West Loop, according to WTTW’s fall restaurant preview. By Saturday, October 3, 2026, the restaurant’s reservation page on DoorDash showed that night fully booked, with a waitlist alert offered for last-minute openings.
The Chicago dining room sits on the ground-floor mezzanine of the members’ club and hotel in the Fulton Market District, according to the Soho House Chicago food and drink page. Diners at Berenjak do not need a Soho House membership.
A London kabab house moves into the Allis Building
The club, Soho House Chicago, occupies the 1908 Allis Building, a former belt factory on Green Street, according to the Soho House Chicago page. The club lists 108,000 square feet over five floors, 40 bedrooms, a gym and spa, a screening room and an 80-foot rooftop pool looking out over the West Loop.
Berenjak is one of two restaurants Soho House now lists in the building. The other is The Allis Bar on the ground floor, which serves a European-inspired menu and classic cocktails and also welcomes members and the public, according to the same Soho House page. The House itself lists a main phone line as (312) 521-8000.
The Chicago opening was one of the larger names on local fall preview lists. WTTW’s Daniel Hautzinger included Berenjak in a September 21, 2026, roundup of upcoming restaurants and gave the October 2 date. The Infatuation’s John Ringor put the restaurant in a September 23, 2026, guide to the city’s most exciting fall openings, calling the restaurant a “very hyped London-based restaurant.”
Who is behind Berenjak
Berenjak was founded by chef Kian Samyani, who modeled the restaurant on the casual kabab houses of Tehran, according to a Soho House feature on the Brooklyn outpost. WTTW describes the operator as the London restaurant group known for the South Asian restaurants Gymkhana and Ambassadors Clubhouse.
The original Berenjak on Romilly Street in London’s Soho holds a Bib Gourmand in the 2026 Michelin Guide, the designation inspectors give for good cooking at moderate prices. Michelin describes counter seating that looks onto the tandoor and mangal grills, and lists coal-cooked eggplant and lamb shoulder kabab among the signature dishes.
The road to Chicago ran through several Soho House properties, according to the club and other published accounts:
- Berenjak opened in London in 2018, according to Soho House, and Michelin now lists Mayfair and Borough Market locations alongside the Soho original.
- A residency called Little Berenjak began at Soho Farmhouse in the English countryside in 2023, according to Soho House.
- A two-year residency opened on the sixth floor of DUMBO House in Brooklyn in November 2024, according to Soho House.
- A public restaurant opened in Downtown Los Angeles, which Chicago Food Magazine identifies as the brand’s first public U.S. location; Soho House places that outpost at Soho Warehouse.
- Chicago is the second public Berenjak in the United States and the fourth collaboration with Soho House, according to the restaurant’s own description on a DoorDash reservation page.
What is on the menu
Soho House describes the Chicago menu as sharing-style kababs, mazeh and khoresht, with dishes that include member favorites from the earlier residencies at Soho Farmhouse, DUMBO House and Soho Warehouse. Mazeh are the small plates that open an Iranian meal, and khoresht are slow-cooked stews served with rice.
Published previews point to several specific dishes and drinks for the Chicago room:
- Taftoon, a flatbread made in house and baked in a wood oven, is on the menu, according to The Infatuation’s listing for the restaurant.
- Ghormeh sabzi, an Iranian herb and meat stew, appears alongside a range of kababs, according to The Infatuation.
- Coal-grilled kababs and spiced mazeh anchor the food menu, according to Chicago Food Magazine.
- Traditional Iranian drinks are served, including sharbats, which are sweet fruit or flower syrups mixed with water, and doogh, a salted yogurt drink, according to Chicago Food Magazine.
- Two cocktails make their Chicago debut, the Olive Leaf Martini made with gin infused with olive leaves and the Phel Phel Margarita finished with house syrup and torshi salt, according to Chicago Food Magazine.
The Brooklyn residency gives a sense of the kabab lineup the brand has exported before. Soho House listed a lamb shoulder koobideh kabab, a barbecue prawn meygoo kabab, a marinated chicken jujeh kabab, a whole rotisserie chicken with saffron sauce and barberries, and a black chickpea hummus on that menu. Whether each of those dishes is on the Chicago menu had not been published as of October 3, 2026.
Menu prices for the Chicago location also had not been published by the outlets reviewed for this story. The dining is built around sharing, so groups order several plates for the table, as the Soho House description and WTTW’s family-style framing both indicate.
Who can eat there and how to book
Berenjak is “open to the public, not just Soho House members,” WTTW reported. The Soho House Chicago food and drink page says the same, listing the restaurant as open to members and non-members alike. The Infatuation also told readers that a membership card is not required to eat there.
Reservations are handled online. Chicago Food Magazine reported that bookings opened in September and that walk-ins are accepted. On October 3, 2026, the DoorDash reservation page for Berenjak Chicago showed Saturday night fully booked and offered a notification for any cancellations. The page offers no published wait times.
Berenjak’s own hours for the Chicago restaurant were not posted on the Soho House pages reviewed for this story. Soho House lists the building’s hours as 7 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Tuesday, 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Wednesday, and 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday, and those are the hours for the House, not the restaurant’s service times. For questions, Soho House Chicago lists a main number, (312) 521-8000.
Soho House Chicago’s page on the Tock booking platform notes that valet parking is available at the building.
